High Places – The Longest Shadow

Oh Brooklyn, how we love you. Creating little hipsters out of each and every one of us, few more so than High Places who recently upped sticks and moved over to California. Tagging along like a funky stowaway in the back of the car comes “The Longest Shadow” the latest single from “High Places vs. Mankind” which brings gorgeously arranged noise close enough to lick a funky bassline and then shuffles some drums next to it. Mary Pearson’s vocals have found a way to be even more haunting and the production is all around toppers. As for the video there’s some bad face acting, some shirts involved and more soft focus than I imagine they were shooting for.

BONUS ROUND: Escaping the feeling this wasn’t made on $50.

Still, its lovely, and you should listen to it. Above, as usual.
