The Sound Strike plan to -with the help of good old fashion musical intervention- provide free legal help to those caught in the detention and deportation system currently in place in Arizona, they’re a coalition of artists from across the country and they have an album coming out featuring none other than Bright Eyes and their brand new track ‘Coyote Song’. In an open letter to ‘The Man’ (presumably) Connor had this to say

American ideals of democracy and liberty are built on the foundation that all people, regardless of race or country of origin, deserve fair and equal treatment by the government . . . We’ve all seen the power music has to spread messages of solidarity and hope.”

It’s pretty lovely in it’s simplicity, all piano chords and steel guitar (still holding on to that country vibe, I see) in the classic Bright Eyes mould. It even manages to mention a the border! Which totally makes it on topic, right? RIGHT? Ah fuck it, just make me a new album Conor, you know you want to…

Buy the song and video for $2 from here, go on, you filthy pirate. It’s a good cause and you get to wander around all day in a cloud of smug self satisfaction, and it’s that worth it?
