STREAM: Three tracks from Damon Albarn’s DRC music project

Hallo (featuring Tout Puissant Mukalo and Nelly Liyemge) by DRC Music

Polymath, accent collector, original star of the 1980’s smash vampire hit “The Lost Boys”. Sadly, only two of these things are true of former “OI MATE APPLES AND PAIRS” britpop poster boy and present “ooh, yeah. Art and culture, yeah?” chin stroker Damon Albarn. Evidently tired of creating operas based on obscure 16th century artists, he’s returned to what he knows at least more than a Wikipedia page about; making music. A collaboration with local musicians of the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as these cats; T-E-E-D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs), Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Remi Kabaka & Rodaidh McDonald and Kwes.

I know what you’re thinking, lots of words right? Well, I’m sorry. In return i’m going to embed the other two songs released from the forthcoming DRC Music album, Let’s just put this behind us, hm?

Ah Congo (featuring Jupiter Bokondji and Bokatola System) by DRC Music

Lingala (featuring Bokatola System and Evala Litongo) by DRC Music

All proceeds will go towards Oxfam, you can purchase it via Warp Records on 3rd October 2011 with a CD/vinyl release to follow on 7th November.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Does Damon Albarn like All-Bran?
