Review: Simian Mobile Disco – Temporary Pleasure

Simian Mobile Disco – Temporary Pleasure

Dear Simian Mobile Disco,

What were you thinking!? Dear god, “Cream Dreams” sounds fucking terrible, “Audacity of Huge” opens with an annoying bleep bleep that even La fucking Roux would tut her big ginger quiffed head at before you introduce what appears to be the sound of a fat man digesting his dinner through a synthesizer. Okay okay so “10000 Horses Cant Be Wrong” sounds half decent but that’s only because it sounds like a bit like a B side from one of your old singles. “Cruel Intentions” features Beth Ditto being, Beth Ditto. The problem is, it’s so average. And Simian are so known, hey, at least this one is honest to the album title. “Off The Map” Is dire. From its pitch bend fetish and to its obsession with being a little bit like Metronomy out in the club. You know what? This is a poor album simian. I’m not even going to bother mentioning the rest of the songs on this 10 track album because even with a dance staple 4-4 beat you still can’t make me want to move.

4/10

Alec

Joes take – “that is a good album cover though lol so you know at least thats…something”
