Remember how when The White Stripes broke up, they honorably proclaimed that, and I quote directly here, “The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belongs to you now and you can do with it whatever you want.”. Remember that? Sure you do, it was a nice moment. Everyone remembers nice moments, it’s just a thing people do. Strange thing, though, how the band subsequently spent the next 15 months doing nothing but cashing in on their history by releasing a frankly remarkable amount of branded merchandise (including a branded Theremin (which is incredibly cool)) and records from their vault. You know, almost like they still own the White Stripes and we, the people, have no claim to their work at all. Huh, odd. Nevertheless, this is still a little bit great; The White Stripes are releasing their first two live outings together as part of their continued ‘Vault Package’ series. Vault set #13 nets you not only their first two performances way back in ’97, but also a nifty tote bag, to add to your collection of nifty tote bags. Sadly, I am no member of The Vault, and can therefore not bestow upon you the gift of pricing information, but you’re free to head over to the site yourself, where you’re likely to spend lots of money. It’s hardly like you need to eat, anyway.
