Picture the scene; a wallet, slowly gathering its senses following the Christmas season, piecing its wits back together quietly in between sudden bouts of violent shaking and traumatised tears. The wallet doesn’t know what’s coming, it couldn’t, because without so much as a warning, it gets pulled from the pocket and forced to hand over hundreds of pounds on air fare and tickets – why? All because both Coachella and Primavera Sound have announced their outrageous line ups for 2013 within a few moments of each other.
So, what do these seemingly disparate pair of cultural events have in common, beside both being music festivals, happening within a month or so of each other? Well, they reveal what a blinding year it is for reformed 90’s Brit acts, with the likes of Blur, Stone Roses, The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine all getting a look in amongst more reformed favourites like The Postal Service and Grinderman (who called it quits not so long back). It’s a feast for both the eyes and the envy gland, so join me as we eyeball what we will likely never go see (both above and below)
