At this point in his musical career, Nick Cave shouldn’t be allowed to be so outstanding, it’s probably bad for his health, or at the very least, everyone else’s miserly careers (saying that, The Kings of Leon are aiming “to have a box-set career.” so, uh, watch out Nick). Still, we’re firmly into the promotional run up the release of The Bad Seeds’ follow up to 2008’s brill ‘Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!’, which means we’re getting a slow trickle of new songs to stoke the hype coals before it inevitably comes out and gets nice and cosy inside everybody’s music collections and end of year lists. This one’s entitled Jubilee Street, and, when paired with the equally melancholic We No Who U R, begins to paint a picture of a Bad Seeds record far removed from that growlier-than-thou sound which marked their turns under the Grinderman moniker.
You can hear the track above (recommended), or pre-order the record here (extremely recommended).
