Taking a break from our usual service of “new music that I want to talk about for whatever reason”, here’s some old music that I want to talk about for whatever reason. It’s a soundboard recording from a Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers set from 1977, performed in Amsterdam’s legendary Paradiso club. It’s also as full an explanation of the genius that Jonathan Richman and his merry band of Modern Lovers possessed as anything else on the internet, so, y’know, it’s pretty essential.
POINT OF INTEREST: That one prick who shouts out track suggestions between every song? He was there, just as he has been at every gig since time immemorial, the immortal bastard.
