Who knows what’s going on with Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti these days, first, right, they appear from the haze of their widely adored and rather worthy 2010 outing Before Today by announcing new record Mature Themes , even throwing in a cover of Donnie Emerson’s recently uncovered jam ‘Baby‘ in to sweeten the deal. Then, all of a sudden, in a still unexplained move, stated via Facebook that Ariel had broken up the band, leaving pretty much everyone at the altar, pretending they didn’t want to marry him anyway. Regardles, tracks from that forthcoming LP keep on flowing, and here’s yet another to whet your metaphorical musical whistle with, an album cut entitled “Only In My Dreams”. The great news is, if you were in doubt as to whether Mature Themes title was a either alluding to the albums Pornosonic tenancies or simply the wider breadth and scope of the songwriting on display, you can heave a slightly disappointed breath, as OIMD (What? You don’t think I’m busy enough to type that out fully? Fuck you) shows the Pink’s songwriting expansion taking on new, beautiful, expressive heights.
Mature Themes is set to arrive on the 20th of August, via 4AD. I think you should buy it.
